Saturday, September 6, 1:00pm – 3:00pm, 143 East 103rd Street, New York, NY
Join us as Literacy for Incarcerated Teens (LIT) partners with La Casa Azul Bookstore to create a bilingual library at the Children’s Home of Kingston where a number of children are being detained as they await immigration proceedings. The Librería will be LIT’s first fully bilingual library collection. Books have been carefully curated by La Casa Azul Bookstore and feature an amazing array of works in Spanish and English, from moving young adult novels to colorful children’s books intended to assist in English-language learning. Join us for food, music and good company as authors who work closely with LIT and volunteers alike discuss the wonder and power detained youth derive from books. Literacy lovers will have the opportunity of contributing to the Librería and LIT’s efforts by purchasing books for the collection at La Casa Azul Bookstore from September 6 through September 20.
See you then!

  2. This information was provided by the Public Library. I’m sure the location is the Northfield Public Library, but do not know the time. I’ll try to find out, and let you know.
